Appeal Court victory: No Victor, No Vanquished – Moro

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Dr. Patrick Abba Moro, has said that with the appeal court verdict validating his re-election he feels re-energized to redouble his efforts in providing quality representation to his constituents devoid of distractions.

The Appeal Court in Abuja on Wednesday affirmed the tribunal ruling on Moro’s victory in the Benue South senatorial election held on February 25, 2023.

In a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of Justices, the appellate court said it was satisfied that Moro of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) validly won the Benue South senatorial poll. It held that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the election, Daniel Onjeh, couldn’t prove their claim that Moro did not secure a majority of lawful votes cast.

Reacting to the appeal court judgement upholding his victory at the polls, Moro said: “Now that the coast is clear and no more distractions, I’m re-energized to represent my people in the Senate and deliver on my campaign promises.

“I will redouble my efforts to provide quality leadership and representation that will continue to awe all.

“As I did the last time when I won at the Tribunal, I re-dedicate this latest victory from the Appeal Court to God Almighty who, by my estimation, has done for me more than He has done for any other person; I give Him all the thanks and appreciation.

“I’m also eternally grateful to the good people of Benue South Senatorial District who endured the rain and sunshine to give me their mandate and have been praying for me. I promise never to betray the trust reposed on me.

“To my opponent and all aggrieved persons, I call on them to put the election behind them and come to join hands with me so that we work for the good of our people and our land.

“To me, there’s no victor, no vanquished!”
