APGA Harassing Decamped Legislators, Anambra APC Alleges

Awka – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra has warned the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to focus on issue-based campaigns ahead of the November 6 Governorship elections and stop joining issues with the APC

The chairman of APC in the State, Chief Basil Ejidike, who stated this in a chat with newsmen on Sunday in Onitsha, berated APGA for harassing the House of Assembly members who left the party for APC.

Recently, six lawmakers from the APGA joined the APC, declaring support for the APC governorship candidate, Senator Andy Ubah.

Speaking through his Media Adviser, High Chief Dan Okeke, Chief Ejidike regretted that APGA’s disposition to the lawmakers, shows that the party is oblivious of the fact that the country is under a democratic arrangement where anybody has the right and freedom to associate with who they choose.

He urged more members of the State House of Assembly to leave APGA which he described as a sinking party and join quality national party that will return Ndigbo to the centre.

“APGA is losing focus in the State.

“There is total failure of infrastructural facilities like roads, good drinking water, power, good healthcare delivery, quality education, women and youth empowerment and security.

“The state under the APGA regime has seen so much setbacks and it is obvious that we cannot continue like this.

“This is the reason why our people must join the APC to ensure that we return power to the people and turn around the fortunes of the state,” Ejidike said.

The Anambra APC chairman called on anti-graft agencies such as the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), and ICPC to beam their searchlight on the finances of the State Government to unearth monumental fraud that has continue to thrive under the APGA government.

“We are more concerned about the governor’s monthly security votes amounting into billions of naira, even when the state is now a haven for criminals.

“Also worrisome is the fact that processes are being approved under the Governor Willie Obiano’s administration without recourse to the rule of law.

“This has resulted in so much corruption and that is why we want the anti-graft agencies to look into the finances of the state,” he said.

The chairman urged APGA members to follow the steps of the members of the House of Assembly and join APC to return the lost glory of Anambra.

“We call on Anambra people to shine their eyes this time around and vote a party that will take them to the centre.

“The candidate of the party, Senator Andy Uba will change the fortunes of the State if elected on November 6. That we can assure Anambra people,” he said.
