Awka – The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State on Thursday, warned the six APGA lawmakers in the State House of Assembly to vacate their seats and hand over all the party’s belongings under their possession to the hierarchy of the party in the state.
The Anambra State Secretary of the Party and a one-time Executive Chairman , Ayamelum Local Government Area, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya, handed down the warning in a chat with newsmen, in Awka.
The six state lawmakers involved are Nonso Okafor, representing Nnewi North; Timothy Ifedioramma, representing Njikoka 1; Cater Dike Umeoduagu, representing Aguata 1; Lawrence Ezeudu, representing Dunukofia; Arthur Chiekwu, representing Idemili North and Edward Ibuzo, representing Onitsha North 2.
They were received at a brief event Tuesday evening in Abuja, by the Chairman APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe state, Governor Mai Mala Buni.
But in the media chat, Barr Ifeanya who said they would soon start the process of recalling the decampees if the refuse to vacate their seats, maintained that since they have moved to APC, they should vacate their seats in the State House of Assembly, arguing that it was the position of the law.
“They should vacate their seats because they went to the House of Assembly on the platform of APGA. They rode on the party’s pedestal to get elected or reelected as the case may be. The decamped lawmakers know how APGA helped them to get where they are today in the state. Now that they have decided to join another political party, they should not continue to enjoy the dividends of a camp they rejected,” he said.
The legal luminary who maintained that APGA is not losing any sleep over the decampees, asked them to go in peace wherever they want to go and return everything that belongs to APGA to her, stressing that he was not surprised about the actions of the decamped six lawmakers.
According to him ,the leadership of APGA in the State has been monitoring and observing the lawmakers and found out that they were really determined to distort the leadership of APGA.
“These lawmakers have been doing this just because of the interest of one man. It is a relief to the party that they finally came out with their true colours. There is no need having a mole in the APGA family as members as they would disappoint the party at long run. Now the lawmakers have made their positions very clear to the party, the leadership of the party and its entire faithful in the state are happy that they are no longer with us,” he noted.
Ifeanya made it very categorically clear that the actions of the lawmakers will not in any way, affect the party’s chances at the governorship election come November 6 in the State.
He rather said the defection will help the party focus on genuine party members who would drive its campaigns faithfully.
Ifeanya, who also bared his mind on Anambra at 30 years, said at 30, “Anambra is shining like a beautiful bride because the state has a governor that is doing well.”
He opined that Anambra at 30 years, has done well in so many areas, especially in the areas of education and health, adding that the most important thing was that “some days ago, Anambra was shortlisted by the Federal Government as one of the oil producing States in the Country, which is one of the latest achievements of Governor Willie Obiano for the State.”
