APC Will Reclaim Plateau in 2027 — Yilwatda Vows

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has vowed that the party will reclaim the Plateau State governorship in 2027.

Yilwatda, who lost the 2023 governorship race to incumbent Governor Caleb Mutfwang, made the bold declaration while receiving Senator Simon Bako Lalong, former governor and current lawmaker representing Plateau South.

He said the APC under his leadership is set to reposition, strategize, and rally support to oust the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next election.

“The APC is firmly rooted in Plateau. The people have seen the reforms and progress under President Bola Tinubu and want that replicated in the state,” Yilwatda stated.

He highlighted the party’s dominance in the state assembly, with 22 APC lawmakers, as a clear signal of grassroots support. He added that continued defections from the PDP to the APC are proof that the people are disillusioned with the current government.

Backing the APC chairman, Senator Lalong described Yilwatda’s appointment by the party’s National Executive Council as a strategic step toward retaking the state, citing his past experience as an INEC commissioner.

Yilwatda’s confidence follows a recent show of strength by APC lawmakers in Plateau, who openly endorsed President Tinubu and warned opposition parties to forget about 2027 campaigns in the state.
