Suspected arsonists reportedly detonated explosives at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, early Saturday, hours before local government elections.Â
The attack, believed to involve dynamite, damaged the main gate, security post, and a nearby building.
Chief Tony Okocha, APC caretaker committee chairman, blamed the incident on supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Both the APC and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had earlier announced their decision to abstain from the elections.
