The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its schedule of activities and timetable ahead of the 2027 general elections, mentioning key dates for primaries, screening of aspirants, and appeals.
This announcement, issued in Abuja on Monday, read in a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. According to him, the timetable shows the party’s readiness to conduct an orderly, fair and transparent internal electoral process.
The schedule, endorsed by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, outlines a structured timeline starting with the issuance of a notice of election to state chapters on April 20, 2026. The sale of nomination and declaration of interest forms is slated to run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while the submission of completed forms will close on May 4.
Aspirants’ screening across all categories, including State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential positions, is scheduled for May 6 and May 8. While the results of the screening exercise will be publicized on May 11, followed by an appeal window from May 12 to May 13.
The primary elections for different offices are spread across mid to late May. Presidential primaries are expected to be held between May 15 and May 16, while other categories such as National Assembly and governorship contests will follow in the days after.
The timetable also contained the provisions for election appeals, with hearings scheduled between May 18 and May 25, based on the office being contested.
In addition, the APC released details of the cost of nomination forms. State Assembly aspirants are required to pay ₦6 million, House of Representatives ₦10 million, Senate aspirants will pay ₦20 million, while governorship forms cost ₦50 million, and Presidential aspirants ₦100 million.
The party, however, offered concessions to certain groups. Female aspirants, youths, and people with disabilities are to pay only for the expression of interest forms and 50 percent of the nomination fees.
The party stated that the timetable aligns with the provided guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and complies with relevant electoral laws.
Noting its commitment, the party assured members and the general public of a credible and transparent primary election process, emphasizing that the exercise will strengthen internal democracy and uphold its progressive ideals.
