APC rejects any off-court arrangement to transfer authority to Governor Yusuf of Kano state

—

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied the rumors circulating that it struck a deal regarding the upcoming Supreme Court judgment to allow Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to continue serving as the Governor of Kano state.

Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the Chairman of the Kano chapter of the party, issued a statement urging the people in Kano to disregard the stories being spread by members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

These stories claim that the APC reached out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in favor of Governor Yusuf, allowing him to stay as governor and later join the APC.

Abbas clarified that the APC is not aware of any such arrangement and emphasized that the party will focus on pursuing its case at the Supreme Court until a resolution is reached.

He stated, “There is no meeting held with either Mr. President or any leader of the party. President Bola Tinubu believes in the rule of law and will not be part of any arrangement to subvert justice.”

Abbas expressed confidence in the APC’s governorship candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, believing that Gawuna will emerge victorious at the Supreme Court based on the compelling evidence presented at both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court, which invalidated Governor Yusuf’s victory.

The APC leader refuted claims of tension in Kano, asserting that the majority of the people are hopeful for Gawuna’s declaration as the duly elected Governor at the apex court.

Despite efforts by the NNPP to incite political crisis, Abbas assured that Kano remains peaceful, and people continue with their normal activities.

He assured that the party will maintain harmonious relationships with ethnic groups and nationalities in the state, irrespective of provocations by the NNPP.

Abbas urged party members and Nigerians to ignore propaganda, remain calm, and assured that Kano will stay peaceful.

Currently, individuals in Nigeria are eagerly anticipating the verdict from the Supreme Court regarding the gubernatorial seat in Kano State.

This decision holds significant importance for the residents of the state, as it will determine the outcome of the gubernatorial election and subsequently shape the political landscape.

The heightened sense of expectation underscores the keen interest and attention that the populace has invested in this legal process, as they await the final judgment that will ultimately define the occupant of the Kano State Governorship seat.
