As it is the culture with politicians when their interests are not safeguarded, some members of the All Progressives Congress numbering hundreds in Benue state have abandoned the party for the Peoples’ Democratic Party.
The political defectors left with the strong resolve to ensure that the ruling party remains victorious in the forthcoming general elections.
Leading the pack of defectors was a State House of Assembly member representing Gboko East Constituency, Dehiin Dzuayi. Mr Dzuayi said that they were no longer satisfied with the APC owing to the fact that it was not receptive to new ideas or progressive.
Governor Gabriel Suswam welcomed the defectors to the PDP. In his speech he mentioned that the new members of the party would be given fair treatment, and that they would not be discriminated against by old members of the party. He congratulated them for doing the right thing by abandoning the APC.
He pledged, “We will treat you equally. The party will never abandon you”.
The Governor also boasted that the PDP would continue its dominance in the state and in the country.
