The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has denounced the recent attack on its state secretariat, which occurred on Monday, 5 July, 2024.
The attack, perpetrated by miscreants who hijacked a nationwide hunger protest, led to significant destruction and looting of the APC Secretariat in the state.
In a statement released on Monday night by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, the APC urged the state government and security agencies to protect the lives and property of every citizen in the state.
The statement partially reads: “Recall that the APC on Friday cautioned the PDP-led state government against allowing PDP thugs to vent their anger on the APC and its leaders following the attack on Senator Sahabi Ya’u’s residence in Kaura Namoda and the attempt to raze the immediate past governor Matawalle’s residence in Gusau.”
The APC has also pleaded with both the state government and security agencies to ensure full protection of people’s lives and property.
“As we cautioned, the hoodlums have gone haywire, forcefully broke into the APC Secretariat situated along Sokoto Bye Pass Road, Gusau, destroyed the facility, including glasses and doors, and carted away furniture and equipment, as well as building materials that were kept in the office stores,” the statement continued.
In addition to the damage to the main secretariat, the attackers also looted the mini secretariat located behind the main office.
They stole all the furniture, computers, refrigerators, and other valuable items from this location.
The APC’s statement reflects a call for immediate action to prevent further violence and to safeguard the community from additional harm.
The party hopes that with the cooperation of the state government and security forces, order and safety can be restored swiftly.
