Anywhere Kwankwaso/Obi Goes, We Follow -Kano Supporters Reject Adeyanju’s Claim

In the wake of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso’s high-profile defection from the African Democratic Congress to the National Democratic Congress, Human rights activist and political commentator Deji Adeyanju stirred the hornet’s nest with a pointed Facebook post questioning the alliance’s strength in Kano State.

Adeyanju wrote: “Kwankwaso might do 2-0 in Kano. It will be too funny if he is unable to get Obi to win Kano and APC wins the guber election. Kano people on Facebook are already saying they will never vote Obi.”

The remark, however, triggered a swift and fiery backlash from Kano voices, many declaring unflinching loyalty to the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket ahead of 2027.

Aminu Sunusi Ringim declared resolute allegiance to Kwankwaso, stating, “If Kwankwaso command us to vote for Nnamdi Kanu, We will surely vote for him.”

In a similar vein, El Harun Aliyu Abba wrote, “Deji we are from Kano anyway Kwankwaso goes we are there and we will surely vote for Obi/Kwankwaso come 2027.”

Aliyu Tijjani Abba struck a slightly independent tone, affirming his support for Obi regardless of Kwankwaso’s stance. “I will definitely vote OBI even if kwankwaso didn’t join him. I believe he is the best solution for Nigeria. We need to drop all these tribes and religious crisis and face what is best for us. I am from kano, but honestly more than 70% of the people i know will follow kwankwaso everywhere he go!” he said.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Abdullahi Lawal dismissed Adeyanju’s position outright: “I’m from Kano and Peter Obi is my candidate. My vote is for OK 2027. Deji go and sit down!”

Abdulhamid Sani Sulaiman framed his decision as a shift borne out of past disappointments, noting, “We tried Fulani (Buhari) it was fire, We tried Yoruba (Tinubu) its hellfire, Now I will give Igbo chance…. So I’m going to vote for Obi, and by God’s grace, we will be OK.”

Others, like Salim Muhammad, accused Adeyanju of speculation, insisting, “You are being speculative. We will vote Obi and Kwankwaso. We will shock you.”

Cmrd Sidi Salisu Sidi and Ahmad Isah Adam Dala also signalled readiness to back Obi, with the latter remarking, “I’m from Kano, make Ojukku contest we will vote for him.”

On the other side of the divide, Aliyu Fadilu Sani appeared unfazed, simply stating, “Which Kano are you referring to. We are OK.”

Zaharaddeen Alshaz insisted on total loyalty to Kwankwaso’s direction, writing, “Which Facebook are you talking on, we are 100% with Kwankwaso brought.”

Muhammad Sarki reinforced that sentiment with a sweeping declaration: “See are u from Kano? I am from Kano, even if it is Obi’s eye glass, Kwankwaso says we should vote for i will. We have voted Hausa/Fulani, they failed us. We have voted Yoruba, they failed us. Now let’s try Ibo’s and see if they also failed us, then we move to another.”

Meanwhile, Aliyu Fadilu Sani questioned the premise of Adeyanju’s claim, asking, “Which Kano are you referring to?”
