Another 450 Lagosians Receive Cheques From “Sanwo-Olu Listen” Initiative

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, has revealed that the number of beneficiaries of the ‘Sanwo-Olu Listen’ social intervention program has significantly increased.

He said this at the presentation of cheques to another set of 450 beneficiaries of the programme organised by the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement and held at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

Congratulating the beneficiaries, the Governor’s Aide added that the continued success of the initiative is a clear indication that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Administration is on the right part of bringing positive transformation to the lives of Lagos residents as well as the community, thereby creating opportunities for all to prosper and thrive financially.

“As more and more people benefit from this programme, we are witnessing the positive transformation that this programme is bringing to our communities. Two weeks ago, we presented cheques to 400 beneficiaries, and today we are hitting another milestone by presenting cheques to another set of 450 beneficiaries. This shows that the programme is rapidly impacting and improving lives of Lagosians to achieve greater economic stability”, he stated.

Highlighting the significant impact of the programme on residents, Dr. Afolabi averred that the benefit is meant for a household so that the dividends of democracy can spread across all families residing in Lagos State, stating that other editions of the programme will still be held before the end of 2024.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Soniki Idowu said he learnt about the programme through the Facebook post of the Ministry. He submitted his application some months ago and he was lucky to be one of the beneficiaries today.

“I want to appreciate the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, I call him ‘Mr. Talk and Do’, because despite not being an indigene of Lagos State, I am still able to benefit from the programme, it shows that there is no discrimination. I will be using the fund to boost my catering business”, he added.

Mrs. Abidemi Akanni, another beneficiary said she was in doubt after hearing about the programme from a friend who benefitted from the initiative last year, adding that receiving the cheque today is like a dream come true as the fund came when she desperately needed to boost her small scale.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Political, Legislative & Civic Engagement, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore was also present during the cheque presentation ceremony to the beneficiaries.
