Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt: Ongoing Legal Battles and Family Struggles Over the Years

For nearly eight years, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been involved in a contentious battle over their French winery.

Additionally, they’ve faced conflicts over raising their six children: Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (18), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16). The Jolie-Pitt family has endured numerous challenges over the years, from allegations of physical abuse to disputes over name changes.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Jon Voight, Angelina Jolie’s father and an Academy Award-winning actor, shared his thoughts on the family issues. Although Voight admitted that he doesn’t communicate with his grandchildren “as much as [he’d] like,” he emphasized the need for resolution. “I wish they’d find a way to make peace,” Voight said. “The kids need stability. I love the kids, and I love my daughter. I want Brad to step up and do what he has to do to end this nonsense.”

Jolie and Pitt were married for two years before Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 following an alleged physical altercation on a plane, which ended their 12-year relationship. The couple was declared legally single in 2019. In 2022, Jolie was granted sole physical custody of their minor children, including Shiloh at the time, after Pitt had briefly held joint custody. Pitt was then permitted “custodial time” with his minor children. The current status of their custody arrangement is unclear.

In June 2020, Jolie explained why she decided to leave Pitt, stating it was for the “well-being” of her children. “I separated for the well-being of my family. It was the right decision,” Jolie told Vogue India. “I continue to focus on their healing. Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds. In fact, they are six very brave, very strong young people.”

Recently, their French winery, Château Miraval, has become a focal point of their legal disputes. In 2022, Pitt sued Jolie for breach of contract after she attempted to sell her company, Nouvel, to Tenute Del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, thereby transferring her 50% ownership interest in Miraval.

Last month, in documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Jolie’s attorneys argued that Jolie and her children were “victims of Pitt’s purportedly ‘private’ abuse and cover-up.” Her legal team contended that she “was not acting with malice and the intent to hurt Pitt in response to any custody ruling” when she sold her share of Miraval.

A source close to Jolie commented on the situation, stating, “Brad Pitt’s insistence on an NDA to cover up his criminal conduct is unconscionable, and no abuse survivor should be coerced and forced into silence. She never pressed charges, she left him all their properties, and she is the one who tried to sell him the business in the first place. Yet he was not satisfied and still sued her, continuing to attack her in the press today. All she wants is peace and the ability to heal their family.”

However, a source close to Pitt disputed these claims, stating, “This was a simple business dispute, but, sadly, this legal attack is just the latest example of them harming the entire family by making it personal.”
