As part of efforts to ensure that Anambra State generates the required data to enable proper planning at the basic education level, the Executive Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi has issued a final warning to Local Government Education Authority Information Management System Officers( EMIS) and Heads of Administration of 21 LGEA’s and Quality Assurance Offices of the 21 Local Government Education Authorities, to always provide accurate data timeously to the Board.
The Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi gave the warning during an emergency meeting with the Quality Assurance, Administration and Education Management, and Education Information System officers ( EMIS) of the (21) twenty-one Local Government Education Authorities of the state, held at the ASUBEB headquarters in Awka.
The emergency meeting followed reports of inaccurate data filed by some of the officers, which spelled confusion in the state government planning process.
Recall that the State Government had distributed laptops and computers to the headteachers of public schools and the LGEA officers, to digitize and ease the entire process of submission of data from headteachers.
Addressing the officers, Dr. Nwadinobi said the vision of Mr. Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR administration to digitize the State Education system is on course, emphasizing the need for the officers to be partners and not cogs in the wheel of the process,
Noting that Mr Governor has a lot of laudable plans for the education system.
The ASUBEB Chairman emphasized that only accurate data will enable the state government to plan effectively for the sector, warning the officers against sabotaging the government vision by providing inaccurate data or by not providing them timeously.
Dr. Nwadinobi said the Board would introduce sanctions for any officer found erring.
“You will henceforth, be given an undertaking to sign to make sure that your data are submitted every month and on time too.
“Anyone who fails to do so risks losing their monthly salaries.
“We want our Planning, Research and Statistics, PRS department to be up and doing because a lot depends on them.
“So, this is the last warning for everyone to sit up and ensure that they play their expected roles in the transformation of the basic education system in the state.
“Mr Governor has made huge investments in procuring these laptops for you. The least you can do is to deploy them to make your work seamless and achieve results for the state,” Nwadinobi pointed out.
The attendees at the meeting had the opportunity to ask questions and get answers on some grey areas of the data gathering and submission process.
The Board Secretary, Mrs Loveline Mgbemena, Director of Quality Assurance, Lady Stella Ezepue, Director of Administration, Ifeoma Okuma, and ASUBEB EMIS Head of Unit, Henrietta Mmuo were in attendance during the meeting.
