Anambra State has won nine national honours at the 2026 President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards, emerging overall winner in eight categories and first runner-up in another.
The state emerged overall best in Public Primary School Administrator, Public Junior Secondary School Administrator, Private Junior Secondary School Teacher, and Public Primary School Teacher.
Other categories won were Private Junior Secondary School, Private Senior Secondary School, Private Junior Secondary School Administrator and Private Primary School categories.
Anambra also emerged first runner-up in the Best Public Secondary School Teacher category.
The nine awards represent half of the 18 honours presented at the national awards, highlighting the strong performance of teachers, school administrators and schools from the state.
Among the awardees was Mrs Gloria Nkolika Odionu of Awada Primary School 4, Obosi, who emerged Overall Best Public Primary School Administrator in Nigeria. She received a Jetour black Jeep as part of the prize for the award.
Another Anambra awardee, Mrs Agatha Chika Ofojindu of Urban Boys Secondary School, Onitsha, was named Best Public Junior Secondary School Administrator in Nigeria and received a tricycle as her prize.
Other prizes won by Anambra awardees included deep freezers and laptops across the various categories.
The achievement cuts across both public and private schools, with teachers, administrators and schools collectively earning national recognition and further placing Anambra’s education sector in the spotlight.
The state’s performance at the 2026 President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards is seen as another significant recognition of excellence in teaching, school administration and educational development in Anambra.
