Anambra Seadogs Float Computer Training for PWDs, Task Them to Turn Their Disabilities to Abilities

National Association of Seadogs, Onitsha Chapter, Anambra State has challenged Persons With Disabilities to develop and transform their skills to abilities. President of the Association, Engr Emeka Uwaechia made the call in Onitsha on Wednesday, while delivering a Seminar titled, “Disability not a Limit to Ability” as part of activities to commemorate International day for persons with disability. He stressed that such skills development could ultimately eliminate their disabilities.

He also called on Non-governmental organizations to provide employment for PWDs, instead of discriminating against them based on their shortcomings. He assured of his group’s continued assistance to them when and where necessary. “You people are free to contact National Association of Seadogs anytime you are faced with critical challenges.

“We shall always welcome you people and we will try our best to assist you people in time of need,” he added

Another member of the Association, Elder Chima Egeonu urged the PWDs never to give up, stressing that, “the only period someone can be called a disable is when he or she dies.”

As part of their support to the PWDs, some of them were enrolled for Computer training program at Tetra Dipole Computers Training Center at Onitsha, whose Managing director is also a person with disability.

Responding, President of the Person Living With Disabilities, Onitsha Council, Mr  Emmanuel Chude thanked Seadogs for the opportunity offered to his members, appealing for empowerment of the beneficiaries at the end of the training.

Mr Peter Aduba informed the PWDs that the program is a United Nations yearly program that falls within the sustainable development goals (SDG) for development of the society.
