The traditional ruler of Amansea community in Awka North Council of Anambra State, Igwe Peter Anigbogu has called for the sustenance of the rich cultural heritage of Ndigbo as a way of promoting unity, peace and progress among Igbo communities.
The Igwe made the call at his maiden annual Ofala festival in his address to the Amansea people.
The rich cultural event attracted members of the community as well as friends of the community who came from far and wide to felicitate the people on the annual event.
The colourful event witnessed traditional performances, music and dances.
According to Igwe, through cultural events, the people bond together, cementing relationships and encouraging oneness.
The monarch pledged to uphold equity, justice, peace and unity for prosperity to thrive among his people.
Igwe Anigbogu, flanked happily by his esteemed subjects, expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for the gift of life.
He said, “I will forever stand with Amansea community.
“I will constantly pray for peace, unity, unprecedented progress for citizens of Amansea wherever they are.”
Ofala, he acknowledged remains a key part of the community’s cultural heritage during which the king comes out publicly to relate with and address his people.
He used the opportunity to pray for the villages, age groups and individual citizens, who in turn, paid homage to him with gift items.
Igwe Anigbogu commended the community’s collective efforts in reaching new heights and specifically acknowledged the generous contributions of high-profile Amansea citizens.
He used occasion of the Ofala to confer chieftaincy tittles on deserving citizens and worthy friends of the community, including Dr Raphael Azubuike Onyekwelu.
