Factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, believes APGA will be unstoppable and will record comprehensive victories in the upcoming local government elections in Anambra State.
Next Saturday, September 28 has been fixed for the LG elections, and the State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC has assured of its readiness to conduct a free, fair and credible exercise.
Speaking at the official launch of the APGA Local Government Election Campaign held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, Ezeokenwa expressed confidence that APGA would triumph in all 21 Local Government Areas and secure all 326 councilorship positions on September 28, 2024.
Describing APGA as a moving train that cannot be stopped in its mission to provide good governance for Anambra, Ezeokenwa noted that no party in Nigeria has been as accountable to its people as APGA, pointing to the numerous infrastructural developments in the state under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Some of these accomplishments he noted to include, the nearly-completed Government House, over 500 kilometers of asphalted roads, comprehensive upgrades of healthcare facilities, including 326 primary health centers and the construction of four new general hospitals, massive youth empowerment programs such as the ‘1 Youth, 2 Skills’ initiative, and urban renewal projects like Awka 2.0 and Onitsha 2.0.
He urged Anambra people to show their support by voting APGA in all 326 wards and 21 local government areas.
The wife of the late spiritual leader of the party, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, called on people of the state to remain steadfast in their support for APGA, noting the party’s rich legacy as the torchbearer of development in Anambra.
In his address, the National Leader of APGA and Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, echoed that APGA has given Anambra State unprecedented transformation in infrastructure, peace, security, law, and order and reiterated the close relationship between Ndi Anambra and APGA.
“Anambra is here because APGA is here. Anambra is APGA, and APGA is Anambra,” the Governor declared, emphasizing that the upcoming local government election “is promise made, promise kept.”
The Governor assured the people that the 2024 election will be transformative, building on the legacies of past local government elections in 1998 and 2014.
Governor Soludo further pointed out that despite the existence of other political parties, APGA faces no real opposition in Anambra State as only nine political parties fielded candidates in the upcoming local government election in the state whereas it was only APGA that fielded candidates in all 21 local government Chairmanship and 326 councilorship in the forthcoming coming local Government election in Anambra State.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of party flags to APGA chairmanship candidates for all 21 local government areas.
