The Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, will be sworn in for a second term on the 17th of March, 2026, the state government has disclosed.
The State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, released the timetable in a statement he signed on Tuesday, which revealed that the governor and his deputy will be sworn in at 10 am at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.
It further stated that the swearing-in ceremony will be preceded by an interdenominational service at the International Convention Centre, Awka, on March 15, 2026.
The statement also revealed that a thanksgiving mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, after the official swearing-in ceremony, on March 22 at 10 am.
Recall that Governor Soludo, was sworn in for the first time on March 17, 2022, as the sixth democratically-elected governor of Anambra State.
He was reelected under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance during the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.
In the election, he polled a total of 422,664 votes, to defeat his closest rival, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Nicholas Ukachukwu, who scored 99,445 votes, while the candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Sir Paul Chukwuma, came third with 37,753 votes.
“Invited guests are expected to be seated by 9 am prompt. Similarly, all accredited media Houses are to be at the venue before 8 am.
“After the official swearing in, Soludo will inspect a guard of honour and consequently make his inaugural address to the people of Anambra State.
“Thereafter, an inter-denominational service will hold briefly before the governor immediately sets out to work.
“The incumbent governor, however, remained grateful to everyone for the outpouring of goodwill messages as well as the continuous support from well-wishers and numerous supporters within and across the globe.
“Anambra on the rise: The foundation towards the Africa Dubai-Taiwan,” the statement added.
