It was indeed, a harvest of projects as the Integrated Community Development Plan, otherwise known as the Solution-ICDP programme initiated by the Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Dr Anselm Onuorah was unveiled on Thursday.
The triple event held at the Council Headquarters, Otuocha attracted top government functionaries, the Clergy, Traditional Rulers and Presidents General of the various communities in Anambra East and other groups too numerous to mention.
The State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo and the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim, both of whom were represented by the Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to the State Government, Hon. Chinedu Nwoye expressed delight with the grassroots development goals of the Council Chairman, Dr Anselm Onuorah.
Dr. Ibezim stressed the importance of unity of purpose in achieving collective goals and harped on the need for attitudinal change for a wholistic community development.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Collins Nwabunwanne applauded the 7-point development plans of Dr. Onuorah which he said would impact meaningfully in the life of the people.
While reiterating that he will not hesitate to support any Local Government Chairman that comes up with meaningful projects, Hon. Nwabunwanne appealed to the people of Anambra East to support their Chairman in his transformational leadership.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Dr. Anselm Onuorah stated that his one year in office has been eventful through the support of the people of the Council Area.
He explained that his desire to develop an integrated community development plan was to guide his team in the year ahead, pointing out that he targets to enroll 5,000 persons into ASHIA scheme, but has so far completed 1,500 beneficiaries at the cost of N12,000 per person.
Dr Onuorah also noted that the fully-equipped Medical Ambulance Bus was provided for the health emergency needs of the people in the Council Area; while the Healthy Family Initiative launched, which coincided with the Flag-off of the World Breast Feeding Day, both of which are in line with the Governor’s wife Healthy Living Initiative were to enhance the overall health of the people.
Other dignitaries at the event including the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, represented by Rev. Fr. George Adimike; the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Barr. Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka; the Managing Director of ASHIA, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, represented by Mrs Nneoma Anoliefo; the Managing Director of Anambra State Oxygen Plant, Hon. Nwamaka Arinze; and the T/C Chairman of Awka South, Hon. ThankGod Anagor in their respective goodwill messages applauded the audacious developmental strides of the Local Government Council Chairman and urged the people to continue to give him maximum support to enable him finish strong.
Highlights of the event were the unveiling of the 1,500 enrollees into ASHIA, launching of the Medical Ambulance Bus, and the Healthy Family Initiative.
In a vote of thanks, the Head, Anambra East Local Government Administration, Dr. Amauche Ofojebe thanked God for seeing them through.
Dr. Ofojebe also paid glowing tribute to the Solution Governor, Prof.Chukwuma Charles Soludo for giving them such a Chairman that is full of wisdom who has been a pace setter in people oriented grassroots development, pointing out that what he has done so far is just the beginning as many ideas are yet to be unfold for the people.
