Anambra 2027: NDC Raises Alarm Over Alleged INEC Candidate Swap

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of replacing its duly nominated candidates with names it described as unauthorised and unknown to the party.

The allegation followed the release of INEC’s list of candidates for the State Houses of Assembly elections, which the NDC said contained individuals who did not emerge through its recognised nomination process.

National Chairman of the party, Senator Moses Zuwoghe, alleged that the development was a deliberate attempt to undermine the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly in Anambra State, the home state of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Zuwoghe described the alleged substitution as a serious electoral concern, urging INEC to explain how names not submitted by the party found their way onto the official candidates’ list.

The NDC warned that such actions, if left unaddressed, could undermine the credibility of the electoral process and disenfranchise candidates legitimately nominated by the party.
