American actress Shelley Duvall has passed away at 75.
Her partner, Dan Gilroy, confirmed her death to The Hollywood Reporter. She died in her sleep from complications related to diabetes at her home in Blanco, Texas, on Thursday.
“My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. She had been suffering too much lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley,” said Gilroy.
Duvall started her career in the 1970 dark comedy ‘Brewster McCloud.’ She won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in the 1977 drama ‘3 Women.’
In 1980, she played Olive Oyl opposite Robin Williams in the musical version of ‘Popeye’ directed by Robert Altman. Despite falling out of favor in Hollywood and being off-screen for two decades, she made a comeback in 2023 with ‘The Forest Hills.’
She is best known for her performances in ‘The Shining,’ ‘Annie Hall,’ and ‘Nashville.’
