Amaju Pinnick Davido

November is here and it seems Davido is starting his new month with a lawsuit!

Famous Afrobeat singer Davido is the target of a 2.3 billion naira lawsuit. Amaju Pinnick, a
popular ex-president of the NFF, has criticized this action and demanded a four-day public
apology for allegedly breaking a commitment to show up for a gig.

Recall that last month, Amaju Pinnick had contacted the DMW music executive to express his
disappointment over his failure to show up for the October “Warri Again” show in Delta State.
The owner of Brownhill Investments Company Limit, which puts on the annual exhibition, Mr.
Amaju, filed a lawsuit in Effurun’s Delta State High Court with the case number EHC/183/2023.

We learned that the claimant was seeking N2 billion in damages from the musician and his
record label through its legal representative, Mr. Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem.

Furthermore, the plaintiff requests that the Afrobeats singer be awarded N150 million for
professional and legal fees, as well as an extra N30 million to cover the cost of bringing the
lawsuit.

They also want Davido “to tender a public apology to the claimant and attendees on all of the
first defendant’s social media accounts/handles and in two national daily newspapers for four
consecutive days,” according to the court decision.

It went on to state that the defendants formally acknowledged the payment of US$94,500.00, or
the equivalent of N70 million, on April 6, 2023.

Davido allegedly recorded a promotional video after receiving cash, but he failed to appear on
the day of the event.

The claimant stated that substantial sums of money had been spent on event promotions and
print and social media ads. It further stated that Davido received a formal letter of reminder
about the event on September 29, 2023, precisely one week before the scheduled date of the
event. It also included the flight itinerary of the private jet that was chartered especially to
transport him and his team to and from Warri, Delta State, for the event, incurring additional
expenses of $18,000.

On October 6, 2023, the day of the event, it was stated that all attempts to contact Davido and
his group had failed, and that the private aircraft that was supposed to take them to Warri at the
Lagos Airport had been kept available in case they later showed up there.

Consequently, Pinnick’s company is demanding full payment of $94,500 for the services Davido
was hired to provide but was unable to do so.
