Alleged N585 Million Scandal: Edu Arrives EFCC Headquarters

The just suspended Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister, Betta Edu, has arrived at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in Abuja.

The embattled Edu was summoned by the EFCC over alleged N585 million fraud in her ministry.

Recall that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended her from office on Monday 8 January 2024, over the alleged payment of N585 million humanitarian fund meant for payment of grants to vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Cross River and Ogun states into a private account.

Edu suspension marks the first since members of the Federal Executive Council were sworn in in August last year by the APC led administration.

Reports say that President Tinubu suspended Edu following public rage over the alleged N585 million alleged fraud under her watch.
