Alleged Fulani insurgents’ invasion: Zone 13 AIG orders water-tight security in Anambra

The 13th Zonal Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Ukpo has directed the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, John Abang to tighten security within the state in response to a viral video purporting an influx of suspected Fulani insurgents into the state.

According to source in the video, the migrants who were trooping in their numbers into Agulu and Adazi areas with a barrage of motorcycles, intends to wreak mayhem on some communities of the state and called on the people to be vigilant and resist any attempt at heisting their localities.

The video went on to allege that there was an assemblage of these suspicious characters at the Hausa Quarters in Awka wherefrom their journey took off.

In a statement on Monday, issued by the Zone’s Public Relations Officer, Nkiru Nwode, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Charge of the Zone, Danmallam Mohammed directed the Anambra CP to examine the contents of the viral video and get back to the Zone for clarification.

The AIG said as apt as it seems, Anambra residents are warned to adopt caution while raising alarms on security, so as not to incite the public against law and order and cause disaffection, tension and false security impression on the people and the land.

“Anambra State Command Commissioner of Police, Abang John, has been urged to tighten the security of Anambrarians and also to wade into the video and examine the contents so shared and get back to the Zone for clarification.

“We implore you to be calm and go about your legal duties without fear of harassment,” the statement said.
