Former Borno State Governor and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has been appointed the North-East Zonal Campaign Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.
Sheriff is among the key regional coordinators named in the campaign structure unveiled on Saturday as the ruling party begins preparations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
In his new role, the former Borno governor will coordinate the APC’s mobilisation efforts across the six North-East states of Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba.
The appointment comes as the APC intensifies efforts to consolidate its political support in the region ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Political leaders and stakeholders in the North-East have previously expressed support for President Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
Sheriff, a prominent political figure from Borno State, served as governor of the state from 2003 to 2011 and has occupied senior positions in some of Nigeria’s major political parties.
As North-East Campaign Coordinator, he is expected to work closely with APC leaders, stakeholders and grassroots structures across the region to mobilise support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 presidential election
