Alex Iwobi is Nigeria’s Second-Most Featured Player in Premier League History

—

Alex Iwobi has become Nigeria’s second-most featured player in the English Premier League. The Super Eagles midfielder achieved this milestone after featuring for Fulham in their 3-2 away loss to West Ham at the London Stadium, where he scored both goals for his team.

The 28-year-old midfielder has now made 274 Premier League appearances, surpassing Kanu Nwankwo (273). Iwobi is just 19 matches away from equaling Shola Ameobi’s record of 293 appearances, the highest by a Nigerian in the league.

The top five Nigerian players with the most Premier League appearances include Yakubu Ayegbeni (252) and John Mikel Obi (249), who are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

Iwobi began his career at Arsenal, progressing from their youth setup to the senior team in 2015. He played 100 matches for the Gunners before moving to Everton, where he made 123 appearances. Last night marked his 51st appearance for Fulham.
