Alejandro Garnacho’s goal is probably the goal of the season — Erik Ten Hag

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has applauded Alejandro Garnacho’s stunning goal — which he described as goal of the season. Manchester had a terrific victory against the Toffees following a 3-0 full-time score.

Ten Hag, who was not on the touchline when his side took on Everton in the Goodison Park due to suspension, poured encomium for the Argentinian’s early strike:

“The season is still long but it is probably the Goal of the Season. It was not only that finish, but also the build up was very good with the switch [of play]. We talked about being brave, being dynamic, being proactive. But the finish is fantastic.”

Garnacho who also spoke with Sky Sports following his wonderful goal against the Toffees said he didn’t know his effort resulted to a goal:

“I can’t believe it to be honest,” he began.

“I just did [it] and I didn’t see how I scored, I just listened around.

“I said: ‘Oh my god’, and for me, of course, it was one of the best goals I have ever scored. I am very happy.”

Asked how his goal stands up against Rooney’s strike against City, then he said:

“I say it is very much like [Wayne] Rooney’s goal, I don’t know which one is better,” he added. “Both are incredible goals.”

“It was a very important win and we need this [win] to be in the top six. We need this win, three goals, and a clean sheet. It is very important.”

“It is a very important win and we must be ready in the Champions League against Galatasaray. We must win. Then at the weekend, we need another win to be in and around the top four.”
