The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its offensive against terrorists and armed bandits in the North-West, carrying out precision air strikes and intelligence driven operations that neutralised several criminal elements and disrupted their activities across key locations.
In a statement issued on Saturday, June 20, 2026, the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1 said it conducted coordinated missions on June 18 and 19 in support of ongoing joint operations with ground troops.
According to the statement, NAF aircraft struck a confirmed terrorist stronghold within the Joint Operations Area based on credible intelligence, significantly degrading the operational capability of the criminals.
The Air Force also disclosed that a separate intelligence-led operation around Kidandan resulted in the successful neutralisation of terrorists after their movements were positively identified by air assets.
It added that follow-up reconnaissance missions over Fatika and Sabuwa showed no further terrorist activity, while aerial surveillance operations continued in support of friendly ground forces and other missions across the theatre.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the importance of integrating air power with ground operations, stressing that “decisive air power delivers its greatest effect when seamlessly integrated with surface operations.”
The NAF reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations in close coordination with ground forces to neutralise terrorists, protect civilians and restore lasting peace and security across the North-West.
It added that the current operational momentum would be maintained until terrorist and bandit networks are completely dismantled.
