16 year old Abraham Attah famously known for his role as Agwu- a child soldier alongside Idris Elba in Netflix’s first original feature film, Beast of No Nation, is up for the best young actor at the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards.

The Ghanaian acting prodigy has already received major recognition for his outstanding work in the movie, taking home the Marcello Mastroianni prize for best new young actor or actress at the 2015 Venice Film Festival and the ‘Rising Star Award’, at the ‘Black Film Critics Circle’ last year .

Although he wasn’t nominated for Beast of no Nation, Idris Elba is up for the best actor in a movie made for television or limited series for his role in British crime drama –Luther.

Mad Max: Fury Road leads the pack with a whopping 13 nominations. Other top contenders include Carol, The Martian, and The Revenant, all of which have nine nominations each.
