Wunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has agreed to undergo a DNA test for her son, Liam, a year after her husband’s passing.
Earlier this year, Wunmi made headlines during an Instagram live session where she emphatically stated that she would never agree to a DNA test. She revealed that Mohbad was her first and only partner, adding, “No one can tell me to do a DNA test on my son, Liam. Mohbad was the one who disvirgined me, and I have never been with any other man in my life.”
Now, in a recently surfaced video, her lawyer, Barrister Akingbolu, shared that Wunmi has changed her stance and is now ready to proceed with the long-debated DNA test for Liam. This decision, he explained, is to once and for all confirm to her father-in-law, Mr. Joseph Aloba, and any lingering skeptics that Liam is indeed Mohbad’s son.
According to Akingbolu, Wunmi’s initial reluctance stemmed from the overwhelming pressure she faced after Mohbad’s death. He described how Mr. Aloba, along with a wave of online critics, intensified the pressure, using grief as a tool to corner and undermine her.
In a serious accusation, Akingbolu claimed that Mr. Aloba orchestrated a smear campaign against Wunmi and her son, even leveraging media channels to question her integrity.
However, Akingbolu emphasized that Wunmi’s choice to undergo the DNA test without any court order is more than just compliance. It is, he said, a stand for her son’s dignity and a way to honor her late husband’s legacy.
