AFCON QUALIFER: Libyan Authorities Hold Super Eagles Hostage (VIDEO)

—

Super Eagles have been held hostage by Libyan authorities at the airport on arrival in Libya ahead of their crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Mediterranean Knights.

In a video shared by the Eagles media team, the players and officials, along with their luggage, were left stranded at the airport, with the Libyan airport officials indifferent to their plight and conversing in Arabic.

According to reports, the Super Eagles were originally set to arrive in Tripoli and then travel by road to Benghazi, but they changed their plans.  Instead, they chartered a flight with a brief stop in Kano before heading to Benghazi.

However, the Super Eagles media officer, Promise Efoghe said they were diverted to a different city.

Nigeria secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Libya at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, thanks to a late goal from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

The second leg of the matchup is set for Tuesday, October 15 with the Eagles looking to maintain their unbeaten streak.
