AFCON: Ivory Coast Trashes Guinea Bissau As Tournament Opens

On Saturday 13th January 2024, at the Olympic Stadium Ebimpe in Abidjan, team Ivory Coast secured a well-deserved victory over Guinea Bissau. 

Seko Fofana of Al-Nassr FC in Saudi Arabia opened the scoring in the fourth minute, but failed to score a brace when he hit the woodwork in the 35th minute.

The Elephants of Ivory Coast dominated the first half, with a lone goal giving them the lead. In the second half, Jean-Philippe Krasso doubled their advantage, sending the home fans into a frenzy.

Reports say, the stadium was filled with orange-clad supporters, creating a vibrant atmosphere with drums and songs.

Evan Ndicka of Ivory Coast received the first yellow card of the tournament in the 30th minute, with Sangare also being cautioned.

Meanwhile, just before the end of the first half, Moro Cassama of Guinea Bissau was booked for a foul on Krasso.
