Ivorian football star Sebastian Haller has vowed to revenge their loss to Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group stage, at the AFCON final slated for Sunday 11 February 2024.
The Nigerian Super Eagles will slug it out with the Elephants of Ivory Coast in the final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Abidjan on Sunday 11 February 2024 at exactly 9pm.
In a heated encounter with the Elephants, Super Eagle’s William Troost-Ekong’s gave the team a lead in a second-half penalty where Nigeria won with a 1-0 win over Ivory Coast in the group-stage match.
Meanwhile, ahead of Sunday’s final showdown between the Eagles, Ivorian soccer star, Haller revealed that the Elephants want revenge and the title this time around.
“We are playing the (AFCON final) final against Nigeria. It is a great nation. It is heavy. They beat us in the group stage.
“But we are already motivated to go and lift the trophy on Sunday in this stadium in front of the Ivorian people. We have revenge to take on Nigeria”. Haller assured further.
Meantime, the two-time champions are the first host country to reach the AFCON final since Egypt in 2006, and the turnaround is astonishingly remarkable for a team that was on the verge of disqualification in the group stage.
