AFCON 2025 Breaks Digital Records with 6.1B Impressions, 5.2B Video Views

Morocco’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 has shattered digital records, generating 6.1 billion impressions and 5.2 billion video views across social media, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Wednesday.

The tournament drew 8.5 million new followers, making it the most digitally engaged African football event in history, with fans logging 285 million interactions. TikTok led the charge, hosting over one million videos under the official hashtag, featuring goal celebrations, tactical breakdowns, humor, music, and fashion inspired by the championship.

“The milestone cements Africa’s flagship football event at the very top of global digital engagement,” CAF said, noting the surge was particularly strong among the African diaspora, with content spreading across borders, languages, and cultures at record speed.

CAF hailed the achievement as proof of its commitment to innovation, fan engagement, and global growth, declaring AFCON 2025 a new benchmark for experiencing and celebrating African football worldwide.

Off the field, Morocco’s hosting delivered a financial win, too. Industry and Commerce Minister Ryad Mezzour told Spanish news agency EFE that direct revenues topped €1.5 billion, funding 80% of the infrastructure for the 2030 World Cup.

AFCON 2025 proved Africa’s football isn’t just watched, it’s celebrated, shared, and amplified worldwide.
