AFCON 2023: Nigeria will battle Ivory Coast in the final

Super Eagle’s journey to their fourth title has one more mountain to conquer, which is the host nation. Ivory Coast reached the final of the tournament following their 1-0 full-time victory over Dr. Congo last night in the Semi final and will face the Eagles yet again but in the final this time.

Nigeria edged Ivory Coast in the second game of group A through Troost Ekong 55th spot kick. Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria scale through to the round of 16 in group A, while Ivory Coast made it as one of the best third places.

It’s Super Eagle’s first final after 11 years since they last made history in South Africa. Nigeria’s voyage to the final has been described as one of the best campaigns with 4 victories, 2 draws and zero loses.

Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali made history last night after denying South Africa twice from the spot kick to help Nigeria reach another AFCON final. Nwabali’s first time on the big stage was filled with confidence and reliability, he has proven that the Eagles hand gloves can be entrusted to his care.

Nigerians were on a joyous occasion last night, celebrating the Super Eagles victory over South Africa, which came after a stringent 120 minutes of play.

The final will feature on February 11, 2024, in the 60,012 capacity Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara, Abidjan.
