Ademola Lookman Not Leaving Atalanta for Napoli – Percassi

—

Atalanta have firmly dismissed fresh transfer speculation linking Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman with Napoli, making it clear the Nigerian attacker is not available for sale this season.

The club’s president, Luca Percassi, addressed the rumours amid renewed interest from Naples following Napoli’s struggles in Europe and their push to strengthen domestically.

Napoli, who are currently trailing league leaders Inter Milan by nine points, are reassessing their options after an early Champions League exit and are now focused on bolstering Antonio Conte’s squad for a strong Serie A finish.

Lookman’s name has resurfaced as a potential target, with reports suggesting a possible loan move was being considered.

However, Atalanta has shut down that idea. The News Chronicle understands that the Bergamo-based club remains committed to Lookman despite his earlier fitness and form challenges following a disrupted period last year.

His impressive outing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he emerged as the tournament’s most productive player and later claimed CAF Player of the Year honours, has only reinforced Atalanta’s stance.

Speaking ahead of a recent European fixture, Percassi stressed that recent squad additions were not made with the intention of offloading key players, describing Lookman as central to the club’s ambitions.

While Napoli is reportedly weighing alternative targets, Atalanta insists Lookman remains part of their plans, with head coach Raffaele Palladino managing his workload carefully to avoid injury as the season intensifies.
