Adamawa monarchs praise NDLEA, seek stronger collaboration in combating drugs

—

Two highly regarded traditional leaders in Adamawa State have praised the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for its efforts in fighting substance abuse and illegal drug trafficking in Nigeria.

The monarchs, HRH Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda II, Kwandi Nunguraya, and HRM Biyapo Bwaltam Bently Mboiman II, Murum Mbula, emphasized the importance of a strong partnership between the traditional institution and the agency during a recent visit to the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), at the agency’s national headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

In a statement released by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the royal fathers highlighted the significant role that traditional institutions play in society, particularly at the grassroots level, where they exert influence.

They applauded the agency’s efforts in reducing drug supply and demand, specifically recognizing the contributions of the NDLEA Command in Adamawa State, which they have supported in various ways.

Brig.-Gen. Marwa expressed gratitude for the visit of the traditional rulers and welcomed their desire for increased collaboration with the agency.

He urged them to continue partnering with NDLEA Commands in their respective domains to raise awareness and educate their subjects about the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.

Marwa emphasized the importance of collective action in spreading this message across communities throughout Nigeria.

Furthermore, Marwa commended the traditional rulers for their willingness to associate with and support the NDLEA’s work.

He encouraged them to maintain their commitment and urged other leaders to follow their example in championing the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
