Panic has spread across Adamawa State after armed Chobo-speaking militia from Gombe and Adamawa launched coordinated attacks on Bachama communities in Lamurde LGA, destroying Tingno, Waduku and nearby villages.
Residents said the attackers advanced from the creeks and overran several settlements before youths stopped them from reaching Rigange.
The renewed violence comes days after Governor Ahmadu Fintiri brokered a fragile peace deal between the two groups.
In response, he has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde. Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje said additional security units have been deployed to restore order and urged residents to remain indoors.
