Abia AGN Blames Problems in AGN in the State on the National Office, Emeka Rollas

National President of AGN, Emeka Rollas

Abia State’s Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) members in their recent meeting in Umuahia voiced a call for peace within the ranks.

They accuse Emeka Rollas, the National President of AGN, of stirring up trouble within the Abia AGN.

The discontented actors, including Nathaniel Nwoko, Daniel Egwu, and Chukwuemeka Onyekwere, who serves as the Public Relations Officer of Abia AGN, expressed frustration that David Amalaha, duly elected as Abia State Chairman in May 2023, hasn’t received recognition from Rollas. Instead, they claim Rollas imposed Dorris Ogala as interim Chairman, despite the existing duly elected executive led by David Amalaha.

Furthermore, they accuse Rollas of inciting crises and intimidating actors by petitioning the Zone 9 Police Command, labeling some AGN members as part of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). They also allege that certain Abia chapter actors were disowned via media publications.

Adding to their grievances, they point out that many deceased actors from Abia State haven’t received compensation from the AGN National office, despite their significant contributions to the film industry.

The actors under David Amalaha’s leadership have taken their case to the High Court in Umuahia to protect their rights, urging the AGN National body to respect the court’s decision. They pledge to abide by the court’s ruling.

In their plea, they attribute the AGN’s internal issues in the state to actions from the National office, particularly President Emeka Rollas, and urge them to cease creating divisions that detract from the Chairman’s efforts.
