In a recent teaser for an upcoming episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Pastor Abel Damina, the founder of Power City International Ministry, expressed his disagreement with the popular slogan “What God Cannot Do Doesn’t Exist” associated with Pastor Jerry Eze of Streams of Joy International.
Pastor Damina clarified that his disagreement with the slogan was not out of jealousy towards Pastor Eze, as some might assume.
He pointed out that Pastor Jerry Eze was his junior in ministry and further stated that he believes the slogan “is not the truth,” indicating a theological difference between his views and those promoted by Pastor Eze.
“‘What God Cannot Do Doesn’t Exist’ is not the truth… People think I am jealous of Jerry Eze. Jerry Eze is by far my junior in the ministry,” he said.
Pastor Damina also claimed that a lot of his colleagues are staging miracles. “I believe in miracles, I believe in healings, but not all these arranged miracles we are seeing today,” he said.
When asked if he was saying the miracles are staged, Damina replied, “Can’t you see most of those crutches are all the same colours and all brand new? In what world will people come for a crusade and have the same brand of crutches and also the same colour?”
Damina also criticized the practice of tithing, stating, “Why are you asking for tithes? If you read the book of Acts, nobody paid tithes to anybody.”
Over the years, Pst. Damina has argued that while he believes in general giving, the legalistic approach to tithing is not necessary for believers today. Instead, he advocates for generosity without the constraints of a fixed percentage, emphasizing support for the church and the needy without the traditional tithe requirement
