Abattoir Actor Omooba Oyeyemi Dies at 38, Burial Set for July 3

Gospel actor Oluwasegun Omooba Oyeyemi, known for playing Flora’s husband in the Mount Zion series Abattoir, died on June 10, 2026, at age 38.

He will be buried on Friday, July 3, at the Garden of Saints Cemetery in Ibadan, Oyo State.

A service of songs preceded the burial on Thursday, July 2, at New Covenant Church, IMPA Estate, Akobo, Ibadan. Mourners were asked to wear white to both events.

The Bowen University Alumni Association announced Oyeyemi’s death in an Instagram post on Tuesday, describing him as a member of the Viable Set and BBSF Drama Unit. The association did not disclose a cause of death.

“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing and burial of one of our esteemed alumni, Mr. Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi,” the statement read. “We humbly request that all alumni remember the family he left behind in their prayers.”

Oyeyemi appeared in several Mount Zion productions beyond Abattoir, including FiwajomiSeyifunmiOlukoya and Finding Grace.

His death marks the third loss for the Abattoir cast in two years. Actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who played his on-screen wife Flora, died in February 2025 from injuries sustained in a Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash on December 26, 2024. The crash also killed one of her twin daughters, then two years old. Mount Zion founder Evangelist Mike Bamiloye and filmmaker Joshua Mike-Bamiloye both paid tribute to her at the time.

Before Adegboyega-Alagbe, cast member Moses Korede Are, known as Baba Gbenro, died in 2024 after a prolonged battle with liver disease. He was born on June 11, 1959, in Kano State, and founded the Calvary Movie Ministry in September 1995, which he ran with his wife, Bamike Rebecca Are, until his death.

The cause of his death was not revealed.
