A Day Of Happiness, Hearing And Heeding The Lessons Of History

Come Along, Let’s Croon Songs Of Restoration And Resilience
Ndaba Sibanda

I hear the reflections of sound waves, the echoes of African drums and ululations,

I lean on hope and conviction as I yearn and learn amidst countless celebrations.

With over 1. 2 billion peoples that speak over 3000 languages, Africa is a continent
with the youngest populace globally, the young dream of a healthier, happier moment.

I reflect on the deepest songs and chants like: Mayibuye iAFRIKA. May Africa come!
Has she come like a long-waited, stolen bride? For now, let me dance till I’m numb.

There is an Adwa Victory Memorial that’s kindly inviting and loading in Addis Ababa, see
you there, the revels roar and reverberate past the African continent, typical of a regal sea.

So join me for a lively festivity of her dreams, diversity, her delicious dishes and dances,
her heritage and history, her music and magic, her arts and crafts, inside, she enhances.

Today as we explore and indulge in African music, dances, cuisines and attire, let us not tire
from the long walk to effective peace, progress, liberty and self-love, for that would be dire.

25 May 1963 was the fire that set the beautiful bride trekking back, tracing her roots and pride,
hence heed the petitions and pleas for resilience, self-sufficiency and self-awareness that are loud.
