The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State has concluded a two-day online workshop for local government media coordinators, with plans to extend the training to local government areas and strengthen communication between grassroots teams and the state-level media structure.
The workshop, held on October 23 and 24, 2026, was organised by the party’s Office of Media and Strategic Communications on the ADC Anambra State Rapid Response Unit WhatsApp platform.
The programme focused on communication coordination, responsible political messaging, grassroots engagement, and the development of a reporting and feedback structure linking local media activities with the state leadership.
The workshop brought together party leaders and media coordinators to discuss the role of organised communication in party administration and public engagement.
Party Leaders Address Communication Structure
Dr. Geoffrey Ndubuisi Nwobu, ADC Anambra State Leader and former governorship candidate in the 2025 election, delivered the opening remarks on the first day.
His address provided the leadership context for discussions on establishing a functional communication structure across the party’s local government areas.
On the second day, the state chairman, Chief the Rt. Hon. Barr. Ben Chuks Nwosu, spoke about the need to reach voters beyond digital platforms and maintain discipline in political communication.
Chief Ralph Okechukwu Nwosu, founder of the ADC and former National Chairman, also addressed participants on the party’s political history, vision, and organisational development.
The presentations examined communication from different leadership perspectives, including the relationship between digital messaging, community-level engagement, and the party’s broader organisational objectives.
Training to Extend to Local Government Areas
A key outcome of the workshop was the plan to extend the capacity-building exercise to individual local government areas.
Under the proposed arrangement, LGA media coordinators would receive further training to enable them to support the development of ward-level media teams.
The initiative also envisages a reporting and feedback system connecting grassroots media activities with the state-level Rapid Response Unit.
If implemented effectively, the structure could help improve the circulation of official information, provide greater visibility for party activities, and create a more organised channel for communicating community concerns to the state level.
However, the effectiveness of the proposed framework will depend on its implementation, the clarity of responsibilities assigned to coordinators, and the consistency of reporting across the local government areas.
The workshop’s conclusion therefore marks the end of the initial training programme, while the proposed LGA-level sessions and reporting arrangements remain part of the work ahead.
Media Coordination and Grassroots Engagement
The workshop was led by Comrade Linus Anagboso, popularly known as BIGPEN, the ADC Anambra State Publicity Secretary and Head of the Office of Media and Strategic Communications. Anagboso is a strategic digital communication expert.
The programme formed part of the office’s efforts to develop a more coordinated approach to the party’s media activities across the state.
Beyond the use of digital platforms to disseminate information, the discussions highlighted the need for communication structures that can support grassroots engagement and provide feedback from local communities.
For the initiative to deliver its intended results, the next stage will require translating the workshop’s discussions into practical arrangements at the LGA and ward levels.
The proposed framework is intended to connect state-level communication with local activities while supporting information dissemination, voter education, and public engagement.
The progress of the initiative will ultimately be assessed by the extent to which the proposed training is delivered, ward-level capacity is developed, and the reporting system becomes functional across Anambra State.
