Vinícius Júnior has vowed to return to his best form after admitting he is unhappy with his recent performances, insisting that his difficult moment at Real Madrid will not last forever.
The Brazilian forward spoke after Real Madrid’s dramatic 4-3 comeback victory over Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday, having trailed 3-1 during the encounter.
Vinícius was substituted early in the second half by José Mourinho, adding to the scrutiny surrounding his current form. However, the 25-year-old remained defiant, expressing confidence that he would overcome his struggles and silence his critics.
“I am not worried, but I am angry with myself for not giving my best version. My moment is bad, but I will be back for sure,” Vinícius said.
The forward also addressed the negative reaction from sections of the Madrid supporters, admitting that the boos and whistles have affected him while acknowledging the fans’ right to express their frustration.
“The whistles from the fans do not help me. I would rather they support me, but I also understand because they pay for tickets,” he added.
Vinícius further reminded his critics of the challenges he faced when he first arrived at Real Madrid as an 18-year-old, when doubts were raised about his ability to score goals.
“When I arrived at 18 years old, people laughed at me and said I could not score goals. Now I have more than 100 goals for Real Madrid. Do not forget that,” he said.
Despite the difficult period, the Brazilian pointed to his achievements with the Spanish giants as evidence of his ability to recover and deliver at the highest level.
“I have won a lot of titles here. I do not need to name and count them. I will be back, mark my words, that is for sure,” he declared.
Vinícius’ comments underline his determination to rediscover his best form and regain the confidence of the Madrid faithful. While his recent performances have attracted criticism, the forward remains convinced that he has the quality and experience to turn his situation around.
