Seyi Makinde, the Allied People’s Movement (APM) presidential candidate, has promised a government built on fairness, accountability and broad-based representation, pledging to confront insecurity, poverty and other pressing national problems if elected president in 2027.
Makinde, who is also the governor of Oyo State, gave the assurance on Saturday at the APM North-East Town Hall meeting held in Yola, Adamawa State.
He said his administration would pursue far-reaching changes across key sectors to restore the country’s development trajectory and improve the living conditions of Nigerians.
The presidential hopeful stressed that his proposed government would promote equitable distribution of political power, insisting that no region would be given preferential treatment at the expense of others.
Makinde also explained that the decision to delay the release of his manifesto was intentional, saying he wanted to engage citizens, understand their concerns and reflect their expectations in his policy proposals.
He described his planned national reset as a comprehensive response to the security crisis, widespread poverty and other difficulties affecting the country.
“I promise you, the North-East and the people of Nigeria, that we will be sincere in finding solutions to the challenges we are facing in the country.
“We will ensure we tell you exactly what is happening and listen to you, as solutions can come from anywhere,” he said.
At the gathering, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed called on party members and supporters to rally behind the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mohammed expressed confidence in the party’s ability to provide effective leadership, describing its candidates as youthful, credible and equipped to deliver meaningful change.
Also speaking, Abdulrahaman Haske, the APM governorship candidate in Adamawa State, appreciated Makinde for selecting the state as the venue for the party’s North-East engagement.
Haske expressed optimism about the party’s electoral prospects, describing the APM as a formidable force in the region. He pledged to expand its grassroots network and strengthen its structures across political wards and local communities.
He further appealed to members to remain united, committed and actively involved in the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The meeting attracted party leaders and stakeholders from Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, Adamawa and Yobe states, reflecting the APM’s efforts to consolidate its presence across the North-East ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
