In a major step toward accelerating digital transformation across higher education, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, FCVSN, led members of the NUC Management Team on a courtesy visit to the Executive Vice-Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, at the NCC headquarters in Abuja today.
The high-level meeting focused on deepening inter-agency cooperation and cementing the long-standing partnership between both commissions.
Central to the discussions was the imperative to strengthen Nigeria’s digital foundations for academic research, innovation, and the widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies within the Nigerian University System.
Deliberations also addressed the long-term sustainability of existing joint initiatives and telecommunications interventions across campuses nationwide.
Furthermore, both leaders explored strategic opportunities to integrate telecommunications law into university curricula, ensuring academic programs align with evolving regulatory frameworks and industry needs.
By consolidating their operational support and infrastructure development, the NUC and NCC aim to build a robust, technology-driven higher education ecosystem capable of equipping Nigerian students and researchers for the global digital economy.
