President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years in public service, describing the milestone as historic and reflecting the enduring confidence of the Indian people in his leadership.
Tinubu conveyed the congratulatory message in a statement personally signed by him on Tuesday in Abuja.
Wednesday, Oct. 7, marks 25 years since Modi assumed public office in 2001 as Chief Minister of Gujarat. Modi served as the head of Gujarat for more than 12 years before becoming Prime Minister of India in 2014.

Tinubu said 25 years of uninterrupted public service represented a significant milestone in any democracy.
He highlighted Modi’s focus on development, infrastructure, digital public goods, financial inclusion and innovation throughout his years in office.
The Nigerian president also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to its strategic partnership with India, recalling Modi’s state visit to Abuja in November 2024.
During the visit, Nigeria honored Modi with the title of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), one of the country’s highest national honors.
Tinubu said the visit provided fresh impetus to bilateral cooperation in areas including trade, investment, energy, defense, security, health, education and technology.
“As fellow democracies and leading voices of the Global South, Nigeria and India share a common commitment to a fairer, more inclusive and representative international order,” he said.
