Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has opened up about his health struggles, revealing that walking has become difficult for him and that he prays God will take him when his time comes without making him a burden to others.
The legendary actor made the revelation during a visit to his longtime friend and colleague, Emmanuel Armah, who is also battling health challenges.
Speaking during the visit, Edochie disclosed that he had not been feeling well, adding that he continued to hope for recovery despite the difficulties he was experiencing.
“Sitting down here, I’m not very well, myself, I’m not. Walking is a problem for me now, but I still have hope that I will recover myself,” he said.
The veteran actor further revealed that he had been experiencing recurring swelling in different parts of his body, including his hands and legs.
“Sometimes I get up and parts of my body are swollen and after some time they go down again. Like my hand is swollen now, my leg,” he added.
Reflecting on his health and mortality, Edochie said he had been praying to God to take him peacefully whenever his time came, rather than allow him to become a burden to those around him.
“I just keep asking God, ‘You are the author of life. Whenever you feel it is time for me to go, just take me. Don’t let me bother the people who are around me. So, just take me,’” he said.
Edochie’s disclosure has offered a glimpse into the personal health challenges of the veteran actor, widely recognised for his decades-long contribution to the Nigerian film industry.
