Heavy explosions rocked Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, on Thursday evening following reports of airstrikes by Saudi-led coalition fighter jets.
Witnesses told dpa that explosions were heard across several parts of Sana’a, while columns of smoke rose near the presidential palace and Mount Al-Nahdain, overlooking the area south of the capital.

Houthi-run television channel Al-Masirah reported that “Saudi aggression” had targeted Sana’a and the provinces of Saada, Taiz and Amran.
The channel, however, provided no details about the targets or the extent of damage caused by the reported strikes.
The reported airstrikes came after the Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted two ballistic missiles and four drones launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia towards the cities of Khamis Mushait and Jazan in southern Saudi Arabia.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the coalition would continue taking operational measures against the Houthis.
“We continue to take and implement operational measures to deter the Houthi terrorist militia,” he said.
The Saudi-led coalition had not immediately commented on the reported strikes in Sana’a.
