President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios for setting a Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening.
The record was achieved during the screening of Black Market in Lagos on September 26, 2026.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga and made available to The News Chronicle, Tinubu praised the filmmakers for their creativity, enterprise and ambition, describing the feat as another demonstration of the exceptional talent driving Nigeria’s creative industry.
The President said the achievement underscored the growing contribution of Nigeria’s creative economy to job creation, business development and access to new global markets.
He noted that Nigerian film, music, fashion and art continue to take the country’s stories and culture to audiences around the world.
According to Tinubu, the success of Black Market demonstrates what Nigerian creatives can achieve when talent is combined with enterprise, innovation and scale.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating more opportunities for young Nigerians to turn their creative talents into sustainable livelihoods and globally competitive businesses.
The President also commended everyone involved in the production and screening of Black Market, wishing the team greater success in its future endeavours.
